Nurses and other key hospital staff play a vital role in the donation process because they are frequently the first to identify a potential donor. During the program, they will be given the needed resources and information on organ and tissue donation. This information will include CMS/UAGA regulation, Joint Commission standards, referral process, cultural & religious considerations, brain death, family approach, management of the organ donor patient, and donation after circulatory death.
